Week 7 - Light and Scale

Model 1: Iterative Model with an additional source of natural light at a new scale

Going off models made in week 5, I recreated the altered model of my chosen room, incorporating the folding techniques learned whilst still keeping the strong cube structure prevalent. I also raised the ceiling on a downward slope to further exaggerate the surface of light. Going off the pleats created in the previous modeled, I included cut-outs in this model to allow light to seep through in different patterns. Scale 1:20

Following the theme of my chosen transition space, I decided to create the 3D model of my initials on a high angle with the last initial above it creating a 'stairwell' look as it descends.

Week 4 - composite analogue and digital drawings

Within my assigned group, I worked on compositing one of the images that illustrated the drawing process, combining sketches and digital drawings of our chosen site with images taken and colour swatches. quick sketch in my visual diary to get an idea of creative ways for the layout of the composite image. Not in a conventional way, layering to almost phase into one. This is the completed composite image of digital and analogue drawings, including color swatches and photos taken from our chosen site. Using the blending tool in photoshop, I wanted to convey the image as if it were from a visual art diary itself (smudges from led, b&w). Also, altering the transparency of the images to layer into each other and flow across the page. Dimming the fill of the images as well allowed me to incorporate them within the strong photos from the site, for example, the close up of the tree in the middle of the composite image has a sketch below faded into its roots.  Below are...

Week 8 - Communicating Materiality and choosing Materials

The chosen materials applied to my 3D model represent my interest in 'artificially' made objects (non-natural/man-made) integrated into the natural environment and how certain materials/compositions of that object can ultimately reform perceptions of how structures fit within the environment in a more appealing way that they don't necessarily look foreign/out of place in the environment they're placed in however incorporate nicely and compliment the natural elements of that environment.
